Hayden Panettiere's Family Supports Wladimir Klitschko's Guardianship Filing for Daughter's Estate
Sources close to the family state Klitschko's filing is a formality to protect their daughter Kaya's inheritance.
Hayden Panettiere’s family fully supports her ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko’s filing for guardianship of their daughter Kaya’s estate, according to a new report.
Sources told TMZ on Tuesday that the retired athlete’s legal move to manage Kaya’s assets on behalf of the 11-year-old is a formality. Klitschko, 50, filed paperwork in Los Angeles on Thursday, stating that he lives in Ukraine and wishes to safeguard Kaya’s inheritance in the United States.
Insiders told the outlet that Klitschko and Panettiere’s loved ones believe the move was a formality. “Wlad is a great father, and we are grateful,” they reportedly stated.
Kaya is entitled to the entirety of Panettiere’s estate following the actress’s death on Aug. 16 at age 36. Klitschko deemed it “urgent and essential” to be named temporary guardian as there is currently no representative acting in Panettiere’s interests.
In his filing, Klitschko claimed that while an investigation into Panettiere’s overdose last month is ongoing, he is “informed and believes” officials “removed property belonging to Hayden’s Estate.” He specifically alleged that jewelry has “disappeared or remain[s] unaccounted for.” He also claimed the “Heroes” alum’s emails were “accessed and destroyed” by a non-family member.
Klitschko’s legal documents stated, “Prior to her death, Hayden and [Klitschko] had hired a security service to protect Hayden’s Home and its contents, arising from a documented concern that an individual had gained unauthorized access to Hayden’s property.” The filing added that locks to Panettiere’s home were changed after her death, and storage units containing designer clothing and accessories were relocated as a precaution.
The Olympian expects “the individual will continue to try and misappropriate property belonging to Hayden’s Estate.”
Klitschko and Panettiere’s on-again, off-again relationship began in 2009 and they became engaged in 2011. They welcomed their daughter in 2014 and separated for good in 2018, the same year Klitschko obtained full custody of Kaya.
Panettiere tragically died in August in South Carolina due to the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine.
In a social media tribute after her passing, Klitschko wrote, “We celebrate her life, her spirit, and the love she brought into this world. … Happy Birthday, Hayden. ❤️ You are loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten.”
The Golden Globe nominee was honored at a memorial in Malibu, California, earlier this month.
