The body of actress Hayden Panettiere is ready to be released, according to South Carolina coroners. A representative for the Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed Tuesday that an autopsy was performed on Monday, a day after Panettiere suffered a cardiac arrest at an apartment in Greenville.
Authorities are investigating the substances that may have been in the 36-year-old's system at the time of her death, which is suspected to be linked to an overdose. Toxicology reports are pending and could take between eight and 12 weeks to be finalized, though the timeframe can vary. Panettiere's body will be released to her family once they have selected a funeral home.
Panettiere, known for her roles in "Heroes" and "Nashville," was found unresponsive following a suspected cardiac arrest. Recent social media posts from the actress had depicted her appearing happy and in good spirits in the weeks leading up to her death.
