Hayden Panettiere Death Investigation Remains Open Despite Overdose Ruling

The death investigation into actress Hayden Panettiere remains active, according to the Greenville Police Department, even after the official determination of her cause and manner of death. The clarification comes after a redacted CAD report was obtained, detailing the timeline of the 911 call placed when Panettiere was found unresponsive at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16.

While the CAD report indicated an "incident status: closed," a Public Information Officer for the Greenville Police Department explained this refers to the closure of the initial call in their system and does not signify the end of the overall investigation.

Earlier this week, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office announced that Panettiere's death was ruled an "accident." The cause was attributed to the toxic effects of several substances, including fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. Toxicology results also detected naloxone and cotinine in her system.
