Hawksmoor Celebrates 20 Years with New London Location

Hawksmoor, a steakhouse chain with a significant presence in the United States, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the opening of its latest London location. Situated in the Gothic Revival architecture of Sir George Gilbert Scott at St. Pancras, the new restaurant is described as one of the finest dining rooms in London.

Founded by Will Beckett and Huw Gott, Hawksmoor has expanded from its original Spitalfields location to include 11 restaurants across Britain, one in Ireland, and three in the U.S. The restaurants are noted for their commitment to ethical sourcing of high-quality beef and for prioritizing staff welfare. This dedication to quality and hospitality has contributed to their consistent popularity, with all locations reportedly always busy.

The St. Pancras venue features ornate details such as gilt-topped marble pillars and extensive stucco work, contributing to its grand atmosphere. The service is also highlighted as exceptional, with well-trained staff.

The menu at Hawksmoor emphasizes high-quality British beef. A particular highlight is the kilo of longhorn porterhouse, a cut taken from the rear end of the short loin, offering both fillet and sirloin portions. The beef is characterized by a robust flavor profile, described as having a hint of minerality and a deeply savory quality, with notable texture and succulence.

Appetizers at the new location include freshly boiled pink prawns served with a classic cocktail sauce and scallops cooked in their shells with breadcrumbs and garlic butter. These dishes are presented as accompaniments that showcase the restaurant's attention to detail and flavor.

Hawksmoor is positioned not just as a place to enjoy high-quality British beef, but also as a venue that excels in the art of hospitality, making it a destination for special occasions rather than a daily dining spot. The estimated cost per person is around £70.
