Multimillionaire socialist streamer Hasan Piker expressed anger over the results of the Michigan Democratic Senate primary, which was tighter than anticipated. Piker, a supporter of candidate Abdul El-Sayed, lashed out at Democrats he believed did not vote for his preferred candidate.
During an election night livestream on Twitch, Piker stated, "Everyone being like, ‘Abdul has a f–kton of work to do mending bridges,’ here’s the f–king take nuke for you: You are all unbelievably Islamophobic pieces of s–t." He continued, accusing critics of calling El-Sayed a "f–king terrorist" and a "sexist, misogynist terrorist, bad candidate, fake doctor" despite his educational background. Piker questioned the desire to win if such accusations were being made.
El-Sayed was projected to win the primary against Congresswoman Haley Stevens. However, as of Wednesday morning, the election results remained close, with El-Sayed holding a narrow lead of less than 4 percentage points with 95% of the votes counted.
