Hasan Piker Compares Himself to Rush Limbaugh, Blames Jews for Antisemitism
The far-left streamer, with millions of followers, also called pro-Israel Jewish people 'hysterical' and 'ridiculous.'
Controversial far-left streamer Hasan Piker has likened himself to the late conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, referring to himself as "Rush Limbaugh for Zoomers." Piker also controversially stated that "hysterical" pro-Israel Jews are responsible for legitimizing antisemitism.
In a recent interview with the Financial Times, Piker, 35, described Jewish people who are "singularly invested in Israel" as "ridiculous" and "hysterical." He further claimed that their actions "legitimize the antisemites" by providing them with talking points.
Piker, who is scheduled to attend a protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York, has amassed a significant following, with over three million followers on Twitch and millions more across social media platforms. His audience largely consists of young men, making him a primary news source for many.
Despite his substantial reach, Piker rejected comparisons to right-leaning podcaster Joe Rogan, who is credited with galvanizing young male support for former President Trump. Piker dismissed the idea of leading a "manosphere" alternative, stating that many in that sphere have a "super, super basic" understanding of politics.
Instead, he positioned himself as a "shock jock of the left." Limbaugh, whom Piker invoked, was a prominent conservative broadcaster and a strong supporter of former President Trump. Limbaugh passed away in February 2021 at the age of 70.
Piker, nephew of The Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur, has previously expressed radical anti-American views, including stating that the U.S. is worse than al-Qaeda. Some within the Democratic party have sought to distance themselves from Piker due to these statements.
