Hasan Piker Calls Bin Laden a 'Spoiled Brat,' Labels 9/11 'Blowback'

Internet streamer Hasan Piker described Osama bin Laden as a "spoiled brat" in his reasoning for orchestrating the September 11, 2001 attacks, which Piker characterized as "blowback" resulting from U.S. actions in the Middle East.

Piker shared these views in an interview with Axios, where he discussed bin Laden's stated motivations for targeting the United States, including U.S. support for Israel, American oil policies, and the presence of U.S. military bases in the Middle East. He noted that bin Laden had previously been an ally of the U.S. during the Soviet-Afghan War, when the U.S. provided training, funding, and armaments to the Mujahideen.

"The action was so heinous and so violent that — and also … given his position as formerly an American ally — I think that he came across a little bit more as a spoiled brat that wasn’t getting his way," Piker stated, also referencing bin Laden's support within the Saudi kingdom and royal family.

Piker expressed a desire for fewer individuals like bin Laden to exist globally. He also suggested that non-interference in foreign affairs could prevent the creation of an environment that fosters revenge and danger.

Piker referred to the 9/11 attacks as a "horrifying tragedy" but reiterated his view that they were blowback for U.S. foreign policy. "Blowback is not a justification. Blowback is just what it is," he said. "A justification offers either a moral condemnation or a moral acceptance of the act. I do not accept the act of 9/11 morally."

In the same interview, Piker drew comparisons between the United States and Al Qaeda, stating that, "Pound for pound as far as the number of deaths, yes," the U.S. has committed more terrorism than Al Qaeda. "We have caused tremendous terror all around the world," he added.
