Hasan Piker Calls Bin Laden a 'Spoiled Brat,' Labels 9/11 'Blowback'

Progressive streamer Hasan Piker described Osama bin Laden as a "spoiled brat" for his role in orchestrating the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, labeling the events as "blowback" for U.S. actions in the Middle East. In an interview with Axios, Piker discussed bin Laden's stated motivations, including U.S. support for Israel, American oil policies, and the presence of U.S. bases in the region.

Piker recalled that bin Laden was once an ally of the U.S., receiving funding, training, and arms from the United States during the Soviet-Afghan War. "The action was so heinous and so violent that — and also … given his position as formerly an American ally … I think that he came across a little bit more as a spoiled brat that wasn't getting his way," Piker stated.

Piker clarified that while he views the 9/11 attacks as blowback, this does not serve as a justification. "Blowback is not a justification. Blowback is just what it is," he said. "A justification offers either a moral condemnation or a moral acceptance of the act. I do not accept the act of 9/11 morally."

He also expressed a desire for fewer individuals like bin Laden to exist, suggesting an alternative path for nations. "The other path of least resistance is to not interfere in these affairs in general and not continue to dominate and create an environment where people are going to seek out revenge and put us in a position of danger," Piker remarked.

In the same interview, Piker drew comparisons between the U.S. and al-Qaeda, stating that "pound for pound" in terms of the number of deaths caused, the U.S. has inflicted "tremendous terror all around the world."
