Harrison Ford, 84, demonstrated his enduring fitness with a vigorous bike ride along the Los Angeles coastline on Saturday. The actor, known for his roles in "Shrinking" and as Indiana Jones, appeared remarkably fit as he pedaled a mountain bike, clad in cycling gear including a helmet, gloves, and sunglasses.
Ford, who has long championed an active lifestyle, has spoken about increasing his time spent cycling. "I really enjoy being outside in nature on a bike, and that's recent for me — the last three or four years," Ford shared earlier this year. He has transitioned from primarily riding road bikes to enjoying mountain bikes, utilizing the scenic routes available in the Santa Monica Mountains.
This shift towards more frequent cycling comes as Ford has indicated he is reducing his time spent flying. The actor has a history of aviation, owning multiple aircraft, but experienced a serious plane crash in 2015 that resulted in multiple injuries, including a broken pelvis and ankle. He noted that cycling does not replace flying but has become a significant part of his routine.
Beyond cycling, Ford maintains his fitness through activities such as playing tennis, light resistance training, and skiing, supplemented by a healthy diet. He has been married to Calista Flockhart for 16 years.
Ford recently received the Life Achievement Award at the Actor Awards in March, where he delivered an emotional speech reflecting on his six-decade career and expressing gratitude for his work, his peers, and his family. He also announced in August that he will reprise his role as Indiana Jones in a new attraction at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom, serving as the model for the animatronic character.
