Hard Rock Casino Tejon Breaks Ground on $725M Hotel and Convention Center Expansion

Hard Rock Casino Tejon officially broke ground on a significant expansion project, a $725 million investment that will add a hotel and convention center to the existing casino north of Los Angeles. The expansion aims to solidify the Tejon Pass location as a major entertainment destination.

The initial phase of the Hard Rock Casino Tejon, which opened in 2025, saw unexpectedly high visitor numbers, leading to challenges in meeting demand. To address this, the new development will include a 406-room hotel, featuring 119 VIP suites, and will add 900 slot machines, increasing the total to 3,000. The project also plans for two resort-style pools with cabanas and daybeds, a 13-treatment-room spa, and multiple dining and nightlife venues, including Council Oak Steaks & Seafood and a new Center Bar.

The expanded facility will also offer enhanced convention and concert capabilities, alongside an outdoor event lawn. Officials anticipate the development will attract visitors from across California and beyond, building on the energy and hospitality associated with the Hard Rock brand.

Mike Bean, Property President of Hard Rock Casino Tejon, stated that the expansion represents a new chapter, allowing the property to elevate the guest experience and become a true destination resort. The project is expected to create approximately 1,500 construction jobs and 350 permanent positions upon completion.

The Tejon Indian Tribe and Hard Rock International are collaborating on the expansion, which is slated for a summer 2028 opening. The initiative is also expected to provide economic benefits to the tribe and Kern County.

Gambling revenue has significantly increased in the region, with established casinos like Morongo and Yaamava’ drawing large crowds. The success of the initial Hard Rock casino phase has prompted this expansion to accommodate and capitalize on the sustained interest in gaming and entertainment in Southern California.
