Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has publicly stated that his starting quarterback, Justin Herbert, needs to improve, particularly in his decision-making. This comes in the wake of the Chargers' difficult 0-3 start to the season.

"Be better. Be better. And that drives Justin, that drives me, that drives his position coach, that drives Mike, the coordinator. I mean, drives us all," Harbaugh told reporters on Monday, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim.

Herbert's performance through the first three games has been notably subpar. He has thrown four interceptions against just three touchdown passes, resulting in a quarterback rating of 27.4. A pivotal moment occurred during the Chargers' recent game against the Buffalo Bills, where a crucial fourth-quarter interception in the end zone by Herbert was picked off by C.J. Gardner-Johnson. The Bills capitalized on the ensuing possession to score the game-winning touchdown, contributing to the Chargers' 13-10 loss.

During the broadcast of the Bills-Chargers game, former NFL quarterback Tom Brady, calling the game, described Herbert's pass as a "meatball sub."

This public critique from Harbaugh follows a recent incident where Herbert responded sharply to a reporter's question about vocal leadership within the Chargers' locker room.
