Country singer Hannah Dasher revealed that a famous, married celebrity once sent her direct messages on social media, but stated that her Christian faith has guided her career path and prevented her from pursuing industry shortcuts. Dasher discussed the experience during a recent appearance on the “Like a Farmer” podcast.
Dasher, 40, did not identify the individual, citing their fame and marital status. She suggested that accepting such advances could have led to significant career opportunities, including major tours. "I could have gone on some pretty big tours, you know, if I wasn’t a Christian," she remarked.
Raised near Savannah, Georgia, Dasher developed a passion for '90s country music. After college, she moved to Nashville to pursue her music career. Prior to her music career gaining traction, she worked at Bass Pro Shops, selling boats and motors, and was dismissed for writing songs during work hours.
Her songwriting career began to take off in 2017 when Brad Paisley recorded her co-written song "Go to Bed Early" for his album "Love and War." Dasher also gained a following through her viral TikTok cooking series, “Stand By Your Pan,” launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, which blended Southern recipes with country music and comedy, attracting over a million followers.
In 2021, Dasher signed a recording contract with Sony Music Nashville and released her debut EP, “The Half Record.” The same year, she was recognized as one of CMT’s Next Women of Country and performed at the Grand Ole Opry multiple times. However, she later stated that Sony "pulled the plug" on her recording deal shortly after the EP’s release, leading her to continue her career independently.
Reflecting on losing her record deal, Dasher described it as a "huge humbling." She emphasized the importance of staying true to herself and her aspirations, stating, "I just had to remind myself that I didn’t move to this town for anybody but me."
She also found renewed inspiration by writing her cookbook, “Stand By Your Pan: 100 Easy and Affordable Comfort Food Recipes So Good They’ll Hurt People’s Feelin’s,” published in March. Dasher noted that this project helped her re-engage with songwriting and that she is currently working on new music with a sense of freedom and authenticity.
Dasher shared her perspective on the current state of country music, observing its significant surge in popularity. "I think country is always trending," she said, adding, "I knew this ’90s thing would come back around."
She recalled advocating for the inclusion of pedal steel guitar in her music, a feature she believed was essential to her sound, drawing parallels to legendary artist Patsy Cline's resistance to pop influences in favor of a more traditional country sound. "And so I just think good stuff sticks around. And I just think people right now are really craving authenticity," Dasher concluded.
