Prominent Hamptons real estate developer Peter Mangiameli has been charged with two felonies following a July 4th weekend boat crash on Sag Harbor Bay. Authorities allege Mangiameli was operating his 35-foot cruiser at unsafe speeds when it struck a jetty, causing injuries to several passengers.

According to reports, the incident occurred late Sunday night as Mangiameli, 57, was returning from Shelter Island with eight friends. Police stated the passengers were thrown violently, with at least one suffering a compound femur fracture requiring surgery, another fractured ribs, and two rendered unconscious.

Authorities allege that Mangiameli left the scene while his injured friends were being treated. The boat reportedly made it back to dock, where officers were waiting. Mangiameli surrendered to authorities Monday morning and was arraigned Tuesday. He faces charges including assault in the second degree for the broken leg and a felony for failing to report the accident. He was released without bail.

Mangiameli, who describes himself as a "visionary real estate developer" with clients including "A-list celebrities, socialites, top executives, and financiers from around the world," has developed numerous high-value properties in exclusive Hamptons enclaves. His portfolio includes estates valued up to $22.5 million.

Mangiameli has retained Edward Burke, an attorney known for representing Justin Timberlake in a past Sag Harbor DWI case. During his arraignment, Burke referred to Mangiameli as a "pillar of the community." Mangiameli reportedly corrected him, stating, "I own several homes."
