Halle Berry's Ex Olivier Martinez Wins Custody Battle Over Son Maceo

Olivier Martinez has secured a significant legal victory in the custody dispute over his 13-year-old son, Maceo, with ex-wife Halle Berry. A judge ruled on Thursday that Maceo will not reside with Berry for the immediate future, following a two-week court battle.

Martinez, 60, expressed hope that Maceo and Berry, also 60, will develop a better relationship moving forward. "I don't want my son to hate his mom. I want him to love her. I want him to forgive her, and I want them to reconciliate in some sort at one point," Martinez told Extra.

Earlier this month, Martinez accused Berry of physically abusing their son, alleging an incident where she allegedly jumped on and choked Maceo. Berry has denied these allegations.

While the judge rejected Martinez's request for a domestic violence restraining order against Berry, the ruling stripped Berry of overnight visitations with Maceo. She will also be required to attend counseling sessions aimed at repairing her relationship with their son.

According to TMZ, Martinez was awarded primary physical custody of Maceo, and Berry has lost her overnight visitation rights. A representative for Berry stated that she retains joint legal custody and the tie-breaking authority in decisions concerning Maceo.

Berry's attorney, Marina Beck, stated, "We are extremely pleased that the Court has dissolved the TRO. As we move forward, Halle is determined to continue to focus on the well-being and best interests of her family."

The legal conflict intensified when Martinez accused Berry of "physically abusing" their son in a court filing. Berry's legal team called the attempt by Martinez's attorneys to reopen evidence to question Berry about an Instagram post a "last-minute grasp at straws" and a "witch hunt."

Martinez's attorney had taken issue with a repost on Berry's Instagram Stories that included a quote about the relationship between children and their fathers. The judge ultimately denied the request to reopen evidence.

In a previous legal filing, Berry had claimed that Martinez repeatedly interfered with Maceo's schooling and therapy, hindering progress. She asserted that Martinez inappropriately involved Maceo in the custody battle and undermined her efforts with the teenager. Berry requested sole legal custody over Maceo's education, healthcare, and mental health treatment.

According to the filing, school administrators noted Maceo's behavior had escalated, becoming increasingly oppositional and disrespectful. Berry alleged that with Martinez's encouragement, Maceo believed he had a say in decisions regarding his education, health, and welfare. Berry also requested that both parents communicate exclusively through a co-parenting app and that Maceo attend therapy sessions for a year.
