Halle Berry's Daughter Defends Actress Amid Abuse Claims by Ex-Husband

Halle Berry's daughter, Nahla Aubry, has submitted a declaration to Los Angeles Superior Court defending her mother against accusations of abuse made by the actress's ex-husband, Olivier Martinez. Martinez had claimed in a court filing that Berry had been abusive toward their 13-year-old son, Maceo.

Nahla, 18, whose father is Berry's ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, stated in her declaration that she has never seen her mother act violently toward anyone, including Maceo. She specifically noted that she has never witnessed Berry throw objects, hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse their son. Nahla described seeing Berry and Maceo engage in playful interactions, such as wrestling and tickling.

"I have also never seen my mom throw anything at anyone, not a knife, or plate, or any other object," Nahla stated in her declaration. "I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way."

Nahla described her mother as a "loving and devoted parent" who can be strict when necessary and expects her children to be respectful. She added that Berry has always encouraged her children to maintain loving relationships with their fathers and has not spoken negatively about Aubry or Martinez.

"No matter how demanding her career has been, she always made time for me and prioritized what was important to me. I have watched her do the same for Maceo," Nahla said in her declaration. "She attended his games, drove him to practices and tournaments, and advocated for his education and access to medical treatment and therapy."

Nahla expressed shock and sadness upon learning of Martinez's allegations, stating they are "completely inconsistent with the mom I know." She also voiced anger that Martinez did not consider her feelings in his efforts against her mother.

The legal dispute follows Martinez obtaining a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Berry. The order was based on claims of an incident on September 26 involving choking. Berry has denied all allegations.

On Tuesday, Berry completed a mandated online parenting program called Our Children First, as part of the ongoing custody battle. The next court hearing is scheduled for October 16.

Berry has also requested that her previous 50/50 custody arrangement with Martinez be reinstated. In legal filings, she characterized herself as a victim of domestic violence. She stated, "I have never physically, emotionally, or otherwise abused Maceo. I am a victim of domestic violence, and I help victims of domestic violence. I am not a perpetrator of violence. I would never hurt our child."

In her legal request, Berry outlined concerns about Martinez's conduct, including his alleged practice of making unilateral decisions regarding Maceo's education and extracurricular activities without her consent. She claimed Martinez consistently places Maceo in the middle of their conflicts, leading to Maceo acting out and exhibiting anger after visits with his father.

Berry further alleged that Martinez tries to align Maceo with him against her and has prevented Maceo from participating in family therapy sessions with her and her fiancé, Van Hunt. Berry stated that Martinez's lack of cooperation regarding Maceo's psychological and educational needs has been detrimental to their son's health and welfare.
