Halle Berry Accuses Olivier Martinez of Turning Son Against Her
Actress claims ex-husband's actions make their son Maceo 'angry and combative' toward her in new court filings.
Halle Berry has accused her ex-husband Olivier Martinez of turning their 13-year-old son, Maceo, against her in new court documents, as she requests the court to reinstate their 50/50 custody agreement. The actress claims that Martinez's actions have caused Maceo to become "angry and combative" when he returns from time spent with his father.
Berry alleges in the filings that Martinez has made "continued attempts to align Maceo with him and against me in many areas of our child’s life and activities." She further claims that Maceo would repeat disputes discussed privately between the parents and take Martinez's side. According to Berry, Martinez's behavior has led Maceo to disregard her authority as a mother and has negatively impacted their relationship.
The actress also contends that Martinez's refusal to allow early interventions has caused Maceo to fall further behind in school and has worsened his acting out behaviors. Additionally, Berry claims that Martinez has not accepted her fiancé, musician Van Hunt, and has prevented Maceo from attending family therapy with Berry and Hunt, which she believes is crucial for creating a healthy blended family. Berry is also seeking to compel Martinez to attend court-ordered therapy sessions.
These new filings come after Martinez was previously granted primary custody of Maceo and a temporary restraining order against Berry. Martinez had alleged that Berry choked Maceo during an argument over a virtual reality game and had been abusive on multiple occasions. Berry, through her attorney, denied these allegations, calling Martinez's filing "entirely meritless and deliberately misleading" and stating that Martinez had repeatedly violated court orders to the detriment of their son.
Berry and Martinez, who were married from 2013 to 2015, have had a contentious divorce that took eight years to finalize. Most recently, Berry and Hunt were photographed spending time with Maceo on Sunday in Los Angeles, visiting Sky Zone with some of the teenager's friends.
