Hairy Bikers' Si King Finds New Love After Personal Triumphs
The TV chef has navigated marriage breakdown, the death of his best friend Dave Myers, and a near-death experience before finding happiness with a new partner.
Si King, one half of the popular Hairy Bikers duo, has found love again with a woman named Milly, described as a 'very special lady.' This news comes after a period of significant personal challenges, including the breakdown of his marriage and the tragic loss of his long-time friend and co-star, Dave Myers.
Myers passed away in February 2024 following a two-year battle with cancer. King, 59, has spoken candidly about the profound grief he experienced, stating he felt lost and considered stepping away from his public life. "The first year I didn't want to do anything at all. I just didn't have it in me," King shared, recalling a sense of guilt when he returned to filming.
King and Myers shared a decades-long partnership, meeting in 1992 and launching their Hairy Bikers cooking show in 2004. They rode over 650,000 miles together, exploring culinary traditions worldwide. King continues to feel the loss of his friend, acknowledging that "It never leaves you. There is always that sense of loss."
Prior to Myers' passing, King experienced a significant personal setback in 2021 when he ended his engagement to Australian fiancée Michele Cranston. Their long-distance relationship had been ongoing for years, with King making frequent trips to Australia. He had proposed during a romantic dinner in Northern California.
Before his engagement, King was married to Jane Dodd for 27 years. The couple separated in 2016, with King attributing the breakdown to the demanding and often absent nature of his career. They share three sons: Alex, James, and Dylan. King reflected that he and Dodd "lost each other," as she was focused on the family while he was immersed in his work. He has stated that his ex-wife is now happy for him and his new relationship.
In 2014, King also faced a life-threatening health scare when he collapsed with a severe headache and was diagnosed with an aneurysm. He underwent surgery, a procedure with a low survival rate without lasting complications. King acknowledged the uncertainty he faced, stating, "Going into the operating theatre, I didn't know if I would live or die." He made a full recovery, although he mentioned needing a "grandad nap" in the afternoons, a common occurrence for someone his age.
Despite these challenges, King is preparing to enter a new chapter with Milly, whom he met after his previous relationships ended. He revealed in a recent interview that Milly has helped mend his heart, stating, "She is a very special lady. She really is. I'm very happy."
