Gypsy Rose Blanchard Shares Texts to Dispel Custody Battle Rumors with Late Ex
Blanchard released private messages with Ken Urker, confirming their agreement to handle joint custody of their daughter without legal intervention.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has publicly shared text messages exchanged with her late ex-partner, Ken Urker, to refute rumors of a potential custody battle over their daughter, Aurora Raina. The messages, dated September 2, reveal a conversation where Blanchard and Urker agreed to establish joint custody arrangements for Aurora without involving legal professionals.
In the texts, Blanchard informed Urker of her intention to leave Aurora with him for the weekend and pick her up on Sunday evening. She then mentioned consulting an attorney about a joint custody agreement, which would cost $1,500 to finalize through signing and filing. Blanchard emphasized the importance of this step for their mutual peace of mind, regardless of their relationship status.
Urker responded, indicating that lawyers were unnecessary unless there was a disagreement over the arrangement. He stated, "The only reason you would get lawyers involved is if you or I don’t agree to the arrangement we currently have," suggesting that a formal agreement could be established without legal intervention if they both consented.
Blanchard and Urker welcomed Aurora in January 2025. Following Urker's death at the age of 34 on October 1, his birthday, Blanchard paid tribute to him on social media, sharing photos of him with their daughter and calling him her "greatest love story."
Urker was found deceased at his home in Raceland, Louisiana. According to 911 dispatch logs, a family member had requested a welfare check after Urker failed to report for work. Authorities reportedly discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun at the scene. Blanchard has suggested that Urker's death may have been due to an overdose, noting that he had not been in a good state of mind recently.
Blanchard recently attended a private viewing for Urker and has been invited by his family to attend his funeral in Texas. She told Page Six that the last time she saw Urker in person was in September, when she surprised him with a food delivery. She described the moment as simple but deeply meaningful in retrospect.
