Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Ex-Husband Reacts to Death of Her Former Partner
Ryan Anderson expresses shock over the death of Ken Urker, Blanchard's ex-fiancé and father of her child.
Ryan Anderson, the ex-husband of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, has broken his silence following the death of Blanchard’s former partner, Ken Urker. Urker died on his 34th birthday from a suspected overdose at his Louisiana home.
Anderson described his reaction to the news as one of "shock." "I didn’t believe it at first. I was like no. My initial thought was shock, like, ‘Hmm, how’d that happen?’" Anderson told "The Sarah Fraser Show." His immediate concern turned to Blanchard and their 1-year-old daughter, Aurora.
"My immediate thought went to, ‘How’s Gypsy?’ My immediate thought was, ‘How’s she doing. And what about their kid?’" he continued.
Blanchard and Anderson married in June 2022 while she was incarcerated for her role in her mother’s murder. They announced their separation in March 2024, shortly after Blanchard’s release from prison in December 2023.
Weeks after her split from Anderson, Blanchard confirmed her relationship with Urker. She had first met Urker in 2017 while she was incarcerated, and they became engaged in October 2018 before parting ways. In early 2024, they rekindled their romance and welcomed their daughter, Aurora, in December.
Anderson stated that he and Urker "never really saw eye to eye," although they never met in person. "We never met in person, but we had exchanges on the phone and we’ve had text messages. We’ve interacted and they were never good," he said, adding, "But you still hate to hear that somebody passed away."
Anderson revealed he has not spoken with Blanchard in about a year. He contacted Blanchard's father, Rod Blanchard, after learning of Urker's death. "I said, ‘Hey, man, I’m hearing this news. If it’s true, tell Gypsy I’m sorry. Tell her I’m here for her if she needs me,’" Anderson recalled. "I was always somebody who could make her laugh when she was sad or give her comfort."
Anderson reiterated that his "main concern is Aurora and Gypsy" and that he would be available to Blanchard as a friend if she reached out.
Page Six previously reported that Blanchard and Urker had quietly ended their relationship approximately one month before his death. Blanchard issued a statement confirming Urker’s suspected overdose, expressing her disbelief and calling him her "forever soulmate."
She also highlighted the intense online scrutiny and cyberbullying Urker faced. "Ken endured an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit," Blanchard said. "The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure."
