Gypsy Rose Blanchard Recalled 'Forever' Love for Fiancé Ken Urker Year Before His Death
Blanchard spoke about their relationship and couples therapy in March 2025, the year before Urker's passing from an apparent overdose.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard described her fiancé, Ken Urker, as her "forever" and discussed their journey through couples therapy approximately one year before his death.
In March 2025, Blanchard told People magazine that she "absolutely" believed her relationship with Urker was built to last. "I’ve always felt that way about him," she stated.
At the time, Blanchard also shared that they were working to "improve" their relationship by seeking an "unbiased opinion" from a therapist. She explained the benefit of having a neutral party, stating, "You don’t want to go to your family all the time to talk about the bad stuff... It’s nice for us to have someone in the middle. They can see my side, they can see his side and give us an honest opinion."
The couple initially connected in 2017 while Blanchard was incarcerated following her conviction for the second-degree murder of her mother in 2015. Urker reportedly reached out to Blanchard after watching a documentary about the abuse she endured. He proposed to her during a prison visit in 2018, though they separated the following year.
Blanchard married Ryan Scott Anderson in July 2022. Following her divorce from Anderson in 2024, she reconciled with Urker.
In December 2024, Blanchard and Urker welcomed their daughter, Aurora, after an "unexpected" pregnancy. Blanchard told People in 2025 that this second phase of their relationship allowed them to get to know each other on a "whole broader spectrum," noting they had both grown since they first met in their mid-20s.
Urker was found unresponsive in his home in Raceland, Louisiana, on Thursday by a family member after he did not respond to Blanchard's birthday text message. Blanchard stated that Urker died of an overdose and described him as her "soulmate." She told People, "I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns."
Blanchard indicated that Urker had been experiencing difficulties and may have suffered from an overdose, though she was unsure if it was intentional. She also commented on the "relentless" cyberbullying Urker faced and urged others to consider the human impact of online interactions.
