Gypsy Rose Blanchard Recalled Dream Wedding Plans Before Fiancé's Death

Gypsy Rose Blanchard had spoken about her aspirations for a large, traditional wedding ceremony with her fiancé, Ken Urker, months before his death. Urker passed away on his 34th birthday in early October 2026.

In a May interview with TMZ, Blanchard, 35, expressed her desire for a significant wedding event. "I don’t want to have a quick wedding; I want to have the big wedding," she stated. "I want to have the poofy dress; I want to have the family there, because my first marriage, I got married in the visitation room by the bathroom of a prison. I deserve my wedding."

Blanchard and Urker began their relationship as pen pals in 2017 while Blanchard was incarcerated for the murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. They became engaged in October 2018 but later separated. Blanchard then married Ryan Scott Anderson in June 2022. Their relationship ended approximately two years later, after which she rekindled her relationship with Urker.

Blanchard and Urker had a daughter, Aurora, born in December 2024. Urker was found deceased at his Louisiana home. A police report obtained by Page Six indicated that drug paraphernalia and a handgun were found at the scene.

Page Six exclusively reported that Blanchard and Urker had ended their relationship about a month before his death, though they had been living apart for approximately two months prior. A source close to the couple described their separation as amicable, stating they were "trying to work it out for a bit" but ultimately parted on good terms.

The source added that the breakup was a mutual agreement and not contentious. They were reportedly co-parenting, with the source calling Urker "the best" father. It was also suggested that their split may have been related to Urker's mental health challenges.

Blanchard commented on Urker's death shortly after it was reported, telling People that she was uncertain if his passing was intentional. "He was not in a good state of mind lately," Blanchard said. "I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns."

Urker's sister, Autumn, has publicly criticized Blanchard, accusing her of misrepresenting the circumstances surrounding her brother's death. Autumn also claimed that Blanchard had been telling people they were engaged and planning another child, asserting that neither statement was true.

Blanchard and Urker's relationship began while she was serving her sentence for her mother's murder. Her parole began in December 2023.
