Gypsy Rose Blanchard Launches Petition for 'Kenan's Law' Following Fiancé's Death
Blanchard seeks to honor her late fiancé by advocating for stricter online harassment policies on social media platforms.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has initiated a petition called "Kenan's Law" in honor of her late fiancé, Ken Urker, urging her followers to support the cause by signing and sharing it. Blanchard stated on Instagram that Urker experienced significant online scrutiny, which she believes escalated to targeted harassment and cyberbullying before his passing.
In a Sunday Instagram post, Blanchard expressed her determination to transform her grief into purpose. "In honor of Ken, I am asking for your support for Kenan’s Law. 🤍," she wrote. She further elaborated that prior to his death, Urker faced "overwhelming amount of online scrutiny" and that reports made to various platforms often resulted in a response of "No violation."
The "Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up" alum explained that the proposed law aims to reform how social media platforms address repeated reports of harassment. "One post viewed alone may not tell the whole story—but hundreds of posts, videos and comments directed at one person can reveal a pattern that deserves meaningful review," she stated. Blanchard emphasized that the initiative is not intended to silence criticism or restrict freedom of speech, but rather to acknowledge that public figures, despite their visibility, are still human beings whose humanity should not be disregarded due to fame.
Blanchard's fiancé, Ken Urker, was found unresponsive at a home in Louisiana on October 1, which was his 34th birthday. According to reports, a family member discovered him after he did not respond to Blanchard's birthday messages.
