Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Attends Ex-Fiancé's Viewing with Daughter; Final Texts Revealed
Blanchard was present at a funeral home viewing for Ken Urker, who was found dead on his 34th birthday, with their young daughter also in attendance.
Gypsy-Rose Blanchard visited her ex-fiancé Ken Urker's casket with their 21-month-old daughter, Aurora Raina, days after Urker was discovered dead on his 34th birthday. Blanchard, 35, attended a private viewing at a Louisiana funeral home on Saturday, family sources told TMZ. She wore a black dress and a necklace that Urker had gifted her for their two-year anniversary.
During the viewing, their daughter Aurora reportedly recognized her father and said, 'Daddy.' Blanchard was also given private time to say goodbye. Urker's brother, two sisters, and mother were also present. His sister Autumn was not in attendance, despite claims she was in Louisiana. Autumn had previously stated that Urker told her in their final phone call that he was 'terrified' Blanchard would not keep their daughter safe and that Blanchard had 'humiliated him.'
The day after the casket viewing, Blanchard and Urker's relatives shared memories of him over lunch. Urker's family also arranged for one of his siblings to care for his dog, Parker.
Last text conversations between Blanchard and Urker, revealed on Monday, focused on their daughter Aurora, whom they welcomed on December 28, 2024. A source close to the former couple told Page Six that their texts in the weeks prior to his death were "normal" and "basically all about Aurora" and their plans for co-parenting. The insider added that Blanchard kept her texts on a "friend kind of level" to give Urker space as he struggled with his mental health, despite her desire to reconcile.
Urker's body was found at his Louisiana home last Thursday. Police stated that syringes, a spoon, a holstered handgun, and a "brown powdery substance" were found nearby.
Blanchard took to her Instagram Story on Monday to express gratitude for condolences. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out with love, prayers, and condolences," she wrote. "I’m sorry I can’t respond to every message, but please know I see them and I’m so grateful."
Five months prior, Blanchard had spoken about her dream for a large wedding with Urker. "I don’t want to have a quickie wedding. I want to have the big wedding," she said, mentioning wanting a "the poofy dress" and family present, in contrast to her prison wedding.
Blanchard and Urker began corresponding in 2017 after he saw a documentary about her. Urker proposed in 2018, but they later split. Blanchard married Ryan Anderson in prison, and after her release in December 2023, she divorced Anderson and reunited with Urker in 2024.
In the immediate aftermath of Urker's death, Blanchard suggested he may have died from an overdose. "I don’t know if it was intentional or not. He was not in a good state of mind lately," she stated. "I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns."
Blanchard also claimed Urker had been "relentlessly cyberbullied" before his death, telling TMZ that the "cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure." She noted that the online harassment had a "profound impact" on Urker and vowed to ensure their daughter would know "who [Urker] was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him."
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed they responded to a call and found Urker, 34, dead. The investigation is ongoing. Family sources reported that Blanchard's brother, Dylan, discovered Urker's body at his home. Urker's sister, Autumn, reportedly confirmed his death on TikTok, stating her brother's last words to her were, "I love you."
Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023 after serving seven years for her role in her mother Dee Dee Blanchard's murder. Dee Dee was killed in 2015 by Gypsy-Rose's then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
