Gypsy Rose Blanchard Accused of Sideswiping Car in Louisiana
The incident occurred just over two weeks after the death of her ex-fiance, Ken Urker.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 35, was accused of sideswiping another vehicle in Louisiana approximately two weeks after the death of her ex-fiance, Ken Urker. The alleged collision occurred on October 17 in Terrebonne Parish, resulting in minor property damage with no reported injuries.
A Facebook user posted about the incident, claiming Blanchard nearly pushed their car into a Walgreens flowerbed. The user also shared what appeared to be a copy of the collision report.
Louisiana State Police troopers investigated the minor car accident. According to TMZ, a source indicated that sun glare was a contributing factor to the incident, which happened at an intersection. Blanchard reportedly provided proof of car insurance, and no arrests were made.
Urker, the father of Blanchard's daughter Aurora, was found deceased in his Louisiana home on October 1, which was also his 34th birthday. Deputies called to the scene found him dead, with drug paraphernalia and a handgun on a nightstand beside the bed. Syringes, a spoon, and a brown powdery substance were also discovered in the bathroom.
Blanchard told People that Urker had not been in a good state of mind recently and had been using alcohol to cope. She reportedly sent him a birthday text on October 1 but did not receive a response.
Blanchard and Urker initially connected as pen pals while she was incarcerated. They became engaged in October 2018, called off their engagement in August 2019, and had a brief reunion before breaking up again. They later welcomed their daughter in December 2024 and continued an on-and-off relationship. Urker's sister, Autumn, has claimed they were not together at the time of his death.
Blanchard, who was released from prison in December 2023 after serving eight years for her role in orchestrating her mother's murder, has spoken out about Urker's death. She described him as an "amazing father and a man who was deeply loved," and her "soulmate." She stated that Urker's death has motivated her to advocate against cyberbullying, suggesting that relentless online scrutiny contributed to his mental strain.
Blanchard has proposed legislation called 'Kenan's Law' in Urker's honor and urged fans to sign her anti-cyberbullying petition. She stated on Instagram that Urker's passing has made her determined to "turn pain into purpose" and advocate for a better system for those who feel unheard.
Blanchard's past includes a conviction for second-degree murder in the 2016 case related to the 2015 killing of her mother, Claudine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard. Her mother had subjected her to a lifetime of abuse, medical torture, and imprisonment, according to Blanchard. Before Urker, Blanchard also met her now ex-husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, as pen pals. They married in a prison ceremony and separated three months after her release, with their divorce finalized nine months later.
