Gwyneth Paltrow has drawn online ridicule for her latest campaign promoting Goop's furniture collaboration with CB2, a Crate and Barrel spin-off. In a series of images, the 53-year-old actress and entrepreneur is seen posing with a silver lampshade on her head, meditating atop a marble coffee table, and perched on a swivel chair.

The lampshade and coffee table were not part of the Goop x CB2 collection, but the "Gwyneth Ivory Boucle Swivel" chair she is seen sitting on retails for $899. Paltrow stated that the collection was "inspired by modern Parisian apartments and mid-century Italian modernist furniture," emphasizing "heirloom pieces to treasure."

However, the unconventional imagery quickly led to a barrage of negative comments on social media. Users on Instagram expressed confusion and disapproval, with reactions ranging from "Yikes" to direct questions like "Why?" and emoji responses indicating a thumbs down.

This campaign has surfaced amid other controversies for Paltrow. Last month, she faced criticism for appearing in a commercial for a luxury residential tower in Israel. Many perceived this promotion as tone-deaf given the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the bombing of Lebanon and Iran.

Earlier in May, Paltrow also reportedly laid off approximately 20 employees at her lifestyle company, Goop, reportedly in favor of adopting automated, AI-driven workflows. Her son, Moses Martin, recently posted a video of himself playing the piano, while her daughter, Apple Martin, is making her acting debut in a film for Warner Bros. Moses Martin has also recently modeled for the luxury brand Burberry.
