Gwyneth Paltrow has ignited online discussion and criticism following the release of a campaign for her Goop company's furniture collaboration with CB2. In the imagery, the Goop CEO-founder is seen posing with a silver lampshade on her head and meditating atop a marble coffee table while wearing a $995 blazer from her clothing line.

The unusual campaign visuals quickly garnered perplexed reactions on social media. Users on Instagram questioned the artistic direction, with comments ranging from "Yikes" to "Why?" and including confused emojis.

The items featured in the unconventional poses, specifically the lampshade and coffee table, are not part of the Goop x CB2 collection. However, the $899 'Gwyneth Ivory Boucle Swivel' chair Paltrow is pictured on is available for purchase.

Paltrow described the collection as inspired by "modern Parisian apartments and mid-century Italian modernist furniture," aiming to infuse "beauty comes from individuality and refinement" into the pieces. She highlighted the use of "complex materiality - plaster, shearling, lacquer" for a collection that is "as elegant and grown up as it is daring."

This campaign follows previous controversies for Paltrow. Last month, she faced backlash for appearing in a commercial for 51 Park, a pair of residential towers in Israel. Critics deemed her promotion of luxury amid the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran as tone-deaf, particularly given her heritage.

In May, Paltrow's lifestyle company Goop reportedly laid off approximately 20 employees as it shifted towards automated, AI-driven workflows.

Paltrow is slated to executive produce and star in an upcoming Netflix adaptation of Belle Burden's memoir "Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage."

Meanwhile, Paltrow's children have also been in the public eye. Her son, Moses Martin, recently shared a piano performance video captioned "new stuff," drawing parallels to his father, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Moses also made his modeling debut in a campaign for the luxury brand Burberry.

Paltrow's daughter, Apple Martin, is pursuing an acting career and is set to make her debut in Nancy Meyers' 2027 film about filmmakers. The 22-year-old Brown University graduate is also involved in her rock band, People I've Met, with upcoming performances scheduled in England.
