Guzman Y Gomez Loyalty App Offers Secret Freebies to Customers

Customers of the Mexican-inspired fast food chain Guzman Y Gomez (GYG) are reportedly taking advantage of a little-known loyalty app that offers a variety of freebies and discounts. The GOMEX Rewards program allows members to earn points on purchases made through the app or in restaurants, which can then be redeemed for rewards.

New members who sign up for the GYG App receive a free burrito valued at $14.50. To celebrate an update to the program, all GOMEX members, both new and existing, are also being offered a free medium Chipotle-Seasoned Fries. These offers are available at no cost to join.

Members accrue one point for every $1 spent. Upon reaching 150 points, these are automatically converted into $10 worth of "GYG Dollars" that can be applied to future orders. Additionally, customers can earn a free coffee or another hot beverage with every sixth order.

Recent updates to the GOMEX Rewards program aim to simplify how members track and redeem their rewards. The GYG App has been redesigned with a new home screen that consolidates key features, including a scannable GYG card, coffee stamps, and saved favorite orders. The app's rewards hub provides members with access to their points history, available offers, ordering streak information, lifetime GYG Dollars earned, and free coffees accumulated.

GYG Chief Marketing Officer Claire West stated that GOMEX Rewards is already considered one of the top restaurant loyalty programs in Australia and that the company is focused on providing even more value to its guests. The rewards can now also be added to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, allowing members to earn points by scanning without needing to open the app.

One customer reported using the app for years and frequently scoring free burritos. "I'm always ordering GYG at work so I just randomly joined the app to collect points. It's basically free money that goes towards your future orders - it's pretty good," the customer told the Daily Mail. Another customer has placed 480 orders this year alone, and thousands have maintained weekly ordering streaks.
