A protracted legal dispute between Australian singer Guy Sebastian and his former manager, Titus Day, has concluded with a confidential settlement. Day has admitted to withholding payments owed to Sebastian during his tenure as manager and after their professional relationship ended.

In a statement, Day conceded that "payments that should have been passed on to Guy, were not." He expressed regret, stating, "I would do things differently if I had my time again." Day acknowledged being a "poor steward of Guy's income," including funds received by his company after Sebastian terminated their management agreement in late 2017. He accepted responsibility for the failure to properly account for and transfer these payments, recognizing the "serious and regrettable impact" on Sebastian and his family, for which he apologized.

Day also acknowledged that Sebastian had previously proposed settlement terms he now considers "incredibly fair." He stated his hope that the discontinuation of civil legal proceedings would allow both families to move forward.

Sebastian's lawyer, Mark Faraday, noted that Day's statement included a clear apology and an acceptance of responsibility for the unpaid amounts. Faraday added that Sebastian had always preferred a private resolution and had been willing to settle the matter early on fair terms, but the dispute took unexpected turns over a prolonged period.

Sebastian indicated that he pursued the legal action as a matter of principle. He stated his readiness to put aside his claim, forgive, and move forward following Day's acknowledgement and apology. The singer had previously described the ordeal, which at one point saw him break down in tears while giving evidence, as having taken unexpected twists and turns.

Sebastian and Day were once close friends, with their families having grown up together. The legal battle arose after Sebastian discovered financial "anomalies" following the split from Day's management.
