A gunman robbed the Tashkent Supermarket in Manhattan's West Village on Thursday, making off with $2,000 in cash, according to the New York Police Department. The incident occurred around 2:24 p.m. at the store located at 378 Sixth Ave.

The suspect brandished a weapon and demanded money from the cashier, before fleeing the scene. Authorities reported that the robber escaped into the West 4th Street subway station and headed uptown towards 42nd Street.

Surveillance images released by the NYPD show the suspect wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and black sneakers, and carrying a brown backpack. The investigation into the robbery is ongoing, and police have not released further details.
