Gunfire Erupts at Texas Grocery Store After Dog Dispute

A dispute over a store's pet policy turned violent at the Great Wall Supermarket in Houston's Chinatown area Friday night, resulting in a gunfight between a customer and a security guard. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. when an unidentified male customer and his girlfriend attempted to enter the store with their dog.

The security guard informed the couple that the dog was not permitted inside due to health regulations. This led to an argument, during which the customer reportedly drew a handgun and began firing at the guard. The guard, in turn, drew his own weapon and returned fire.

A witness from an adjacent store told KHOU 11 that she heard a brief argument followed by five to six gunshots. Houston Police Department Lieutenant Larry Crowson was en route to a reported disturbance when he heard the gunfire.

Both the customer and the security guard sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a hospital in critical condition, undergoing surgery Friday night. The dog and the customer's girlfriend were unharmed and remained at the scene for questioning. Police are currently reviewing surveillance video to reconstruct the events.

The customer attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by officers. The Houston Police Department and the Great Wall supermarket have been contacted for further information regarding the ongoing investigation.
