Gun Incident Led to Titans Lineman Jordan Elliott's Release, Reports Say
The defensive lineman was cut after reportedly attempting to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle following a dispute at the team facility.
Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jordan Elliott was released by the team Tuesday, days after an incident at the team facility reportedly involved him attempting to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle. The team had only acknowledged an "incident" occurred at the facility on Oct. 15 in their statement regarding the release of the 28-year-old player.
According to reports, the incident stemmed from a confrontation with offensive lineman JC Latham during practice on Thursday. Elliott, who was inactive for the Titans' Week 6 game against the Colts, was reportedly told to leave the practice and subsequently removed his pads on the sidelines before heading to his car. Security cameras captured him attempting to access his gun, but teammate John Franklin-Myers intervened and dissuaded him.
A source told KPRC2 that Elliott had been experiencing family issues that carried over into his professional life. The Metro Nashville Police Department has stated that no incident report was filed regarding the event. Elliott had practiced with the team on Wednesday and Thursday of the week in question, but did not practice on Friday due to unspecified personal reasons. Coach Robert Saleh had commented that Elliott was "dealing with some personal stuff."
Elliott, who joined the Titans in free agency on a two-year, $8 million deal, had played in all five of the team's previous games this season, starting one, and recorded 11 total tackles. His NFL career began with the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, followed by two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before his move to Tennessee.
