Guinness World Records has officially confirmed that President Donald Trump's Fourth of July fireworks display in Washington D.C. in 2026 was the largest in history. The event, organized as part of the Freedom 250 celebration for America's 250th birthday, featured 840,537 fireworks.

The record-breaking display was achieved by Freedom 250 and Pyrotecnico, Inc., with the event organized by Event Strategies Inc. The fireworks show took place on July 4, 2026, and lasted approximately 40 minutes.

Despite initial weather delays that led to the evacuation of some attendees from the National Mall, hundreds of thousands of people still witnessed the extensive fireworks spectacle. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum had previously explained that the immense scale of the display necessitated launching fireworks from multiple locations, including barges along the Potomac River, a departure from typical launch sites near the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

The Freedom 250 initiative was launched as a public-private partnership, with the president serving as the chair. This event surpassed the previous record holder, a New Year's Eve show in 2016 that featured 810,904 fireworks.

A spokesperson for Freedom 250 stated that the display shattered the previous global benchmark and served as a symbol of unity and pride as the nation entered its next 250 years. The White House also commented, noting that the celebration included an air show, the record-setting fireworks, and an address delivered by the president to a large crowd of attendees.

The "Salute to America" celebration also included an abbreviated speech by President Trump prior to the fireworks.
