Grief Campaigner Found Dead on Beach Where Son Died Years Prior
A grieving mother and national award-winning grief campaigner was found dead on a beach in Cornwall, the same location where her son died six years earlier.

Charmaine George, 52, was discovered on the shoreline at Portreath beach earlier this month after a member of the public alerted authorities. Police and coastguard crews responded to a welfare check call, but George was pronounced dead at the scene.
George had been actively campaigning following the death of her son, Ewan, who died at the age of 18 in May 2020. Ewan was found at the bottom of cliffs at Portreath beach after a night camping with friends. His mother's body was found at the same location on Lighthouse Hill, a spot she had previously referred to as Ewan's "happy place."
George, originally from Islington, London, worked as a travel agent and was recognized nationally for her charity work as a grief campaigner.
An assistant coroner for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Guy Davies, stated that investigations are ongoing and the medical cause of death has not yet been determined. A full inquest is anticipated to take place next year.
