Green Party leader Zack Polanski has defended his decision to miss a debate at his party's conference concerning a motion that declared Zionism a form of racism.
Appearing on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Polanski denied deliberately avoiding the discussion, stating that he was actively campaigning for the Holborn and St Pancras by-election at the time. The motion, which was ultimately passed by party members, defined Zionism as an ideology that supports an "ethnonationalist Jewish state" and advocated for a single democratic Palestinian state encompassing present-day Israel.
