Great Wolf Lodge Massacre Suspect May Have Drained 401(k) Before Attack, Stepmom Says
Allegations of pre-planning emerge in the stabbing deaths of a father and son at a Pennsylvania resort.
The suspect in the fatal stabbing of her husband and 3-year-old son at a Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos may have drained her 401(k) account before the tragedy, according to the accused murderer's stepmother. Metallica Harrison, 27, faces charges in the deaths of her husband, Charles "Chaz" Harrison, and their child.
April Thetga, Harrison's stepmother, told Fox News Digital that she believes the attack was preplanned. Thetga stated that Metallica Harrison allegedly emptied her 401(k) account prior to the family's three-week stay at the resort, though it remains unclear if Charles Harrison was aware of this financial action.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police discovered kitchen knives, brought from the family's home, along with blood and medications inside the Harrisons' hotel room. Thetga confirmed that the knives found at the crime scene were from the family's residence in Towanda, Pennsylvania, describing the incident as "definitely preplanned, which is horrifying."
Authorities were initially alerted by a 911 call placed by Harrison, who reportedly expressed suicidal intentions. The family's extended stay at the resort, which can cost between hundreds and up to $2,000 per week, has raised questions about their financial ability to afford it, given Chaz Harrison's employment at a cabinetry company and Metallica Harrison's position in the healthcare field.
The grieving grandmother expressed profound sadness and anger over the loss of her grandson, stating, "I want to hear him say 'Grandma April look at me!' I want it back, I need it back. I'm so broken, angry and just don't understand. She just destroyed our whole lives."
Metallica Harrison is currently held without bond in the Monroe County jail awaiting her next hearing. The investigation into the murders is ongoing.
