Great Wolf Lodge Killings May Show Premeditation, Investigator Says

New details in the Great Wolf Lodge family massacre suggest the killings may have been premeditated, according to a private investigator.

Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, is accused of fatally stabbing her husband, Charles "Chaz" Harrison, and their 3-year-old son, Tristan, at the resort in Pennsylvania's Poconos region. Prosecutors have charged her with two counts of criminal homicide.

Knives recovered by investigators at the scene did not belong to the resort and had teal green handles, which Great Wolf staff confirmed was not a type kept by the lodge, according to a criminal complaint. This detail suggests the weapons may have been brought to the scene by the suspect.

Autopsies for both victims were conducted, and the father and son were found deceased in their hotel room on a Monday. Harrison's stepmother previously told Fox News Digital that the suspect might have drained the family's 401(k) account before their three-week stay at the resort.

The family resided in Towanda, Pennsylvania, approximately 100 miles northwest of the resort.

Private investigator Rod Devine commented that the allegations of draining retirement funds, the manner of the killings, and the potential use of brought-from-home weapons on a lengthy vacation are elements that investigators would examine for signs of premeditation.

"From the cursory file that we can look at, we being the general public, it looks like there are certain elements that are already met," Devine stated.

Reports also indicate that Harrison was allegedly resentful toward her son and never wanted to be pregnant, possibly desiring more alone time with her husband. Family members reportedly told investigators that Harrison was "dominant, controlling and isolated the three of them from her husband's family for the last three years."

Charles Harrison's sister, in an update on a GoFundMe page, stated, "His love for his wife and child was out of this world and, sadly, is the reason why he lost his life and his son's life."

Metallica Rose Harrison is currently held in a Monroe County jail cell and is scheduled to appear in court on October 21.
