Grant Show Recalls Being Bitten by Fan's Jealous Boyfriend

“Melrose Place” actor Grant Show recounted an unusual and aggressive fan encounter from the height of the show's popularity, during which he was bitten by a fan's jealous boyfriend. The incident occurred at a nightclub.

During a panel discussion moderated by People at '90s Con on Sunday, Show, who portrayed Jake Hanson on the popular 1990s soap opera, detailed the experience. He explained that a fan of the show was paying a lot of attention to him, which appeared to upset her boyfriend.

"She was a fan of the show and a fan of Jake’s and she kept paying a lot of attention to me," Show recalled. "I said, ‘My name is Grant. What’s your name?’ He took my hand, bit it," the actor revealed. "So I took my hand back."

"Melrose Place," created by Darren Star and produced by Aaron Spelling, aired for seven seasons from 1992 to 1999. The series followed the lives of young adults in a West Hollywood apartment complex. Show's character, Jake Hanson, was a central figure in the show, known as a bad boy and blue-collar hero, appearing from the first season through the fifth.

Other cast members, including Laura Leighton, Courtney Thorne-Smith, and Daphne Zuniga, have previously spoken about the show's often wild storylines. Leighton commented on the surprising nature of the scripts, stating, "Every week, I was like, ‘Seriously, what the f–k?’ And OK, this is what we’re doing this week." Thorne-Smith added that the cast understood the show's over-the-top nature and aimed to bring humor to their roles, which she believes contributed to its success.
