Grandmother's Body Found in Suitcase Dropped at Fire Station; Police Investigating as Homicide
Authorities are seeking information in the death of Lorretta Moody, whose remains were discovered after two individuals brought a suitcase containing her body to a Wichita fire station.
The body of Lorretta Moody, a 67-year-old Kansas woman who had been reported missing, was discovered inside a suitcase that was dropped off at a Wichita fire station on September 16. Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.
Two individuals brought the suitcase to the fire station and informed officials that it contained a body. Upon examination, the remains were identified as Moody. Authorities have interviewed the individuals who brought the suitcase to the station, but no arrests have been announced as of yet.
"This is just evil. There’s no other word for it," said Alexis Trotter, Moody's granddaughter, in an interview with KWCH. Trotter expressed that her family wishes to remember Moody for her loving nature and her dedication to her family, rather than the tragic circumstances of her death. "She loved all of us grandkids, her great-grandkids. Family was everything to her. She was spunky, I’d say, for a little person. She was full of life," Trotter recounted.
The Wichita Police Department has not provided further updates on the case. A GoFundMe page has been established to help cover funeral costs, raising nearly $800 toward its $5,500 goal. The family is urging those responsible to come forward.
