Grandmother Believes Missing Boy Was Abducted, Citing Lack of Other Explanations

The grandmother of missing child Gus Lamont has revealed she believes he was abducted from near her South Australian sheep station, stating that "nothing else makes sense." Four-year-old Gus was last seen playing near the remote homestead, approximately 40 kilometers south of Yunta, on September 27. Despite extensive land and air searches, the child has not been found.

In February, police indicated they suspected someone known to Gus may have caused his death, either accidentally or deliberately, before he was reported missing. Authorities stated that the individual in question lived at Oak Park Station, located 300 kilometers north of Adelaide, and was known to the child. They also confirmed this person was not Gus's mother, Jessica Murray, or his father, Joshua Lamont, who resided in Belalie North, a two-hour drive away.

On Monday, Gus's grandmother, Josie Murray, shared her current belief that Gus was abducted by a stranger. "I think he has to have been taken. Nothing else makes sense," she told 7News, expressing a continued desire to understand what happened to her grandson. She directed TV cameras to the area where Gus was last seen playing on the afternoon of his disappearance, stating, "It brings me to tears that he's not here... Just down here. And then that was the last he was seen, and after that he just disappeared."

Josie Murray and her husband, Shannon Murray, own and live at the station. Josie Murray had previously confirmed that police had informed her she was considered the main suspect in the case, a claim she has consistently denied. To date, no charges have been laid, and no arrests have been made in connection with Gus Lamont's disappearance.
