Grandfather Kills Pregnant Daughter, Family in Pennsylvania Murder-Suicide
The gunman, identified as Matthew Stone Sr., also killed his two grandsons and two other women before taking his own life.
A grandfather in Erie, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the shooter in a devastating murder-suicide that claimed the lives of his pregnant daughter, two grandsons, his wife, and two other women before he turned the gun on himself. Authorities identified the gunman as Matthew Stone Sr., 45.
The victims of the Friday incident include Stone's daughter, Angelina Stone, 24, who was days away from delivering a baby boy. Also killed were Angelina's sons, Matthew Stone Jr., 21, and Jonathan Stone, 19, as well as Stone's wife, Michelle Stone, 44. The other two victims were identified as Lora Roberts, 37, and Twila Tanner, 51, who are believed to have intervened in the violence.
Angelina Stone had recently shared her excitement about the impending arrival of her son, whom she planned to name Kyrie. In a social media post on September 25, she described her unborn child as a “blessing” and expressed her eagerness to hold him. The post included ultrasound images of the baby.
Authorities have not released a motive for the mass shooting, though they are reportedly exploring the possibility of mental health issues contributing to the violence. The incident occurred on Friday, with the victims identified on Monday by the Erie County coroner.
