Grand Jury Rules Nolan Wells' Death Consistent With Drowning
Mississippi grand jury finds no evidence of foul play in the July 4th boating incident that led to the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells.
A Jackson County grand jury has concluded that the death of Nolan Wells, who was found floating on July 6 following a Fourth of July boating trip, was consistent with drowning. The jury found no evidence to support criminal charges in connection with the 18-year-old's demise.
Wells had been on a boating excursion with friends off the Mississippi Gulf Coast near Horn Island when he disappeared. His body was discovered adrift two days later. Despite the official ruling, his death had been the subject of considerable scrutiny and rampant speculation.
According to a report released by the Jackson County District Attorney's Office, the grand jury reviewed the evidence and determined that "the position of, the condition of, time of discovery, and location of Mr. Wells’ body is consistent with drowning."
