Carmine Agnello, the 40-year-old grandson of notorious Gambino crime boss John Gotti, married Ariana Puran on August 8, just two days before surrendering to federal authorities to begin a 15-month prison sentence for a $1 million COVID-19 relief scam. Agnello's lawyer confirmed the wedding date to Newsday.

Agnello had initially been scheduled to begin his sentence on June 2, but received a two-month reprieve from the judge after stating he wished to donate a kidney to his mother, Victoria Gotti. The surgery was reportedly never performed.

Prior to his wedding and surrender, Agnello was charged with assault on June 4. Prosecutors alleged that he choked and slapped Puran in his East Norwich home during a fit of jealousy over an alleged affair. Puran later described the incident to reporters as a "regular couple's argument." Victoria Gotti, however, publicly referred to her now-daughter-in-law as a "rat" for involving law enforcement.

Records indicate that the state assault case against Agnello is still pending.

Agnello pleaded guilty to wire fraud in 2024, admitting to defrauding the Small Business Administration and financial institutions of approximately $943,300 through his auto parts company. He also used about $420,000 of the stolen funds to invest in a cryptocurrency firm that subsequently failed. He is currently serving his sentence at FCI Fairton in New Jersey and is expected to be released in August.

Agnello is also known for his appearance on the reality television series "Growing Up Gotti" alongside his mother.
