Gordon Brown Attended Exorcism to Sign Player, Claims Former Scotland Manager
Craig Levein alleges that while he was manager of Raith Rovers and Brown was Chancellor, they met at a church service where demonic rituals were performed.
Former Scotland manager Craig Levein has claimed that he and then-Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown attended an exorcism in an attempt to sign a player for Raith Rovers in 2006. Levein, who briefly managed the Scottish second-tier club, said that he and Brown, both boyhood fans of the Fife-based team, met at the Zion Praise Centre in Kirkcaldy.
Levein was attempting to recruit defender Marvin Andrews, who had become a free agent after being released by Rangers. Andrews' spiritual mentor, Pastor Joe Nwokoye, ran the church where the meeting was scheduled.
However, Levein recounted on the "Undr the Cosh podcast" that upon arriving, he and Brown found themselves observing a church service where the pastor was performing an exorcism. "The guys are going up on the stage and Pastor Joe is putting his hand on their heads and there is a whole lot of wailing noises going on and he shoves them and they fall backwards," Levein said.
He described the experience as "the most bizarre evening I have ever had," noting his surprise at the unfolding events while waiting to speak with Andrews. Three Range Rovers, driven by Brown, reportedly arrived with lights and sirens, adding to the unusual circumstances.
Andrews, who had previously played for Raith Rovers, confirmed in 2006 that he had spoken with both Brown and Levein, and that they had attended a meeting with his pastor. At the time, Andrews stated that his decision to return to Raith Rovers was guided by his faith, not political influence. "My main decision was what God told me. I am back here because God wants me here. It is simple," Andrews said.
Following his retirement from football, Andrews became a Christian preacher. In 2017, he offered to exorcise a reportedly haunted house, stating that problematic spirits are often linked to Satan. He won the Scottish Premiership with Rangers during his playing career.
