Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, has suggested that South Carolina Senate candidate Darline Graham is an "ally" of the "swamp," a term often used to describe entrenched political interests. Davidson made the remarks in a post on the social media platform X.

Graham, who secured first place in the Aug. 11 South Carolina GOP special U.S. Senate primary, is set to compete in a runoff election on Aug. 25 against second-place finisher Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C. Davidson's post contrasted Norman's campaign to "drain the swamp" with Graham, stating, "The swamp wants allies not adversaries. The swamp appointed an ally. These are the stakes in South Carolina."

Darline Graham was appointed last month to fill the vacancy left by her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham, by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster.

President Donald Trump has endorsed Graham and urged her to run for the Senate seat. He reiterated his support in an Aug. 14 Truth Social post, stating, "SOUTH CAROLINA: GET OUT AND VOTE FOR DARLINE GRAHAM ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 25TH. DARLINE HAS MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT — SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"

The president's post also highlighted an endorsement from Rep. Russell Fry, who finished third in the special GOP primary. Fry encouraged his supporters to vote for Graham in the runoff.

Graham is campaigning on continuing her brother's legacy while forging her own path in the Senate. Norman's platform reportedly focuses on grassroots issues, inflation, and energy costs. He has received an endorsement from Nikki Haley.
