GOP Congressional Candidate Admits to Sending Nude Photos, Citing 'Youthful Indiscretions'
State Senator Brent Taylor, endorsed by Donald Trump, faces accusations of sending unsolicited images as recently as five years ago.
A Republican candidate for a U.S. House seat in Tennessee has acknowledged sending nude photographs, attributing the behavior to "youthful indiscretions" despite one instance occurring as recently as 2021, when he was 53 years old.
State Senator Brent Taylor, who is running for Tennessee's 9th Congressional District, admitted to the past conduct after the Nashville Scene reported that multiple sources claimed to have received or seen the images. Taylor has been married for over 30 years and has two adult children.
"As I near 60 years old, the expiration date has come and gone on any of my youthful indiscretions," Taylor told the publication. "Whatever story you think you've got, my wife is well aware of and we've worked through it a long time ago. My god and my wife have forgiven me, and I would consider everyone else doing the same." He also stated, "All I can tell you is, in the past, I've been guilty of being a rounder, back in the day."
Taylor, who has served in the Tennessee Senate since November 2022, secured the Republican nomination for the redistricted seat in August. President Donald Trump endorsed Taylor in July, describing him as a "Highly Respected State Senator" who would "NEVER LET YOU DOWN."
Taylor's campaign biography highlights him as a family man and notes his active membership in Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee, with his wife, Kimberly. The couple resides in Eads, Tennessee.
His Democratic opponent, Representative Justin Pearson, called the allegations disturbing. In a post on X, Pearson stated, "I'm disturbed to learn of Brent Taylor's pattern of sending unsolicited nude photos to multiple women. The fact that he would dismiss his behavior as 'youthful indiscretions' despite it happening recently, in his fifties, & while he held government office is ridiculous."
Pearson further characterized the alleged actions as "predatory behavior that needs to be rooted out of our society and politics" and accused both Taylor and Trump of abusing power and evading accountability. He asserted that Tennessee requires leaders who demonstrate respect for women.
Taylor is competing against Pearson for a seat that was made available after Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen announced he would not seek reelection following the redrawing of his Memphis-based district.
