Google Earth Image Sparks New Loch Ness Monster Speculation
A tourist's discovery of unusual shapes in Loch Ness via Google Earth has reignited interest in the legendary creature.
A recent discovery on Google Earth has led to renewed speculation about the existence of the Loch Ness Monster. Julie Fraser, a tourist, reported spotting what she described as three mysterious figures beneath the surface of Scotland's Loch Ness last week.
Fraser has submitted her findings to The Official Loch Ness Sightings Register, which is currently reviewing the images. If authenticated, this would mark the 17th confirmed sighting of the legendary creature this year, according to the Inverness Courier.
Fraser stated that while examining Google Earth, she noticed the three objects and, upon closer inspection, concluded they did not resemble boats. "They look like whales or something similar with an arc to their back," she told the outlet.
She further noted the absence of a V-shaped wake behind the figures, which would typically be present with a moving boat. This detail, along with the imagery timestamped 2026 and the appearance of trees in full leaf, led Fraser to believe the footage captured something significant and recent.
"I’m not a crank," Fraser asserted. "It definitely looks like something significant to me."
This potential digital sighting contributes to what has been described as a banner year for the Loch Ness Monster legend. The Official Loch Ness Sightings Register has logged 14 in-person encounters and two webcam-based sightings in addition to this digital discovery.
Fraser expressed excitement at the possibility of finding "a little family of Nessies."
