Racegoers at the Goodwood Festival have resorted to inventive measures to smuggle their own alcoholic beverages into the venue, where prices for drinks are notably high. On the fourth day of the event in Chichester, West Sussex, attendees were seen attaching small, 100ml cosmetic containers filled with drinks to their legs, concealed beneath their attire.

The on-site bar offers a small bottle of champagne for £19.95, a bottle of rosé for £52.50, and a glass of wine for £8.75. A single measure of spirits is priced at £6.75.

Racegoers were spotted sneaking in mystery mini-bottles by taping them to their legs.

The five-day festival is a prominent event in the racing calendar, known for encouraging guests to dress in their finest attire. Fashion played a significant role, with many attendees embracing floral patterns, vibrant colors, and elaborate fascinators, particularly on Ladies' Day. The dress code for different enclosures varies, with the Richmond Enclosure requiring jackets and ties for gentlemen and a garden party-appropriate look for women. Other enclosures have more relaxed dress codes, encouraging smart and elegant attire.

The weather at this year's festival has been notably warm, with temperatures expected to reach 27C, a stark contrast to the previous year's rainfall.

The Qatar Goodwood Festival features a schedule of races, including 13 Group contests and three Group 1 races, with the £1.5 million Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes being a highlight. Beyond the racing, the event offers various dining options and amenities, such as complimentary strawberries and cream.
