A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by a close friend to assist Tenisha Warner, the widow of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who is reportedly facing significant financial hardship and is involved in an estate dispute with her mother-in-law.
Destiny Rael, a friend of Tenisha Warner, established the fundraising page, stating that Tenisha has become the sole provider for their young daughter following Warner's death in July 2025. Rael described Tenisha's efforts to manage grief, care for their daughter, and address various demands, including legal matters and home repairs after a house flood.
According to the GoFundMe notes, Warner died unexpectedly while on vacation in Costa Rica without signing an updated estate plan that would have provided for his wife and daughter. Tenisha Warner, who previously stepped back from her career as a doctor of psychology to be a stay-at-home mother, is now managing the costs of resolving the estate alone.
The campaign aims to alleviate financial strain, cover immediate expenses, and provide stability for Tenisha and their daughter as they navigate the complexities of Warner's estate. Rael emphasized that the funds would help Tenisha honor Warner's wishes and legacy while ensuring their daughter's security.
This situation arises amid a legal battle between Tenisha Warner and Pamela Warner, Malcolm-Jamal Warner's mother and trustee of the Warner Family Trust. Last month, Tenisha filed a lawsuit against Pamela Warner, seeking $1.2 million as stipulated in a prenuptial agreement signed in 2022. Tenisha stated that her husband had intended to finalize a new estate plan to replace one drafted in 1996, before they met and before their daughter was born, but was unable to do so before his death. She added that legal action was necessary to protect their rights before any statute of limitations expired.
