A GoFundMe campaign established to support the parents of Lindsay Clancy, the former nurse accused of murdering her three children, has raised over $800,000 as her trial continues into its fourth week. The funds are intended to assist Mike and Paula Musgrove with travel and living expenses incurred while supporting their daughter throughout the legal proceedings.
The fundraiser, which has a goal of $2 million, states that the couple has been absorbing costs for years to remain close to their daughter, depleting savings built over a lifetime. According to the fundraiser's organizer, the funds are designated for the Musgroves' financial stability and not for Clancy's legal defense.
Clancy, 36, is accused of strangling her children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan—with exercise bands at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. She has admitted to the killings but has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis. Clancy is also pursuing medical malpractice and negligence claims against her former healthcare providers.
During the trial, a psychiatrist who prescribed Clancy multiple medications in the four months leading up to the children's deaths has become a central figure. Dr. Jennifer Tufts, who treated Clancy via telehealth and increased her medication the day before the alleged murders, faced scrutiny for her demeanor and apparent unpreparedness on the stand.
Separately, prosecutors in the case requested a log of individuals who entered a room with Clancy during breaks in the trial. The defense noted that a Roman Catholic priest, identified as Father Bob, had been accompanying Clancy, along with Dr. Paul Zeizel, a forensic psychologist working with the defense. The judge ruled against ordering the names of all visitors, except for Dr. Zeizel, stating he would reconsider if the priest were called as a witness.
