Actor Glynn Turman, an Emmy-award winner and former husband of Aretha Franklin, was recently seen in Los Angeles, making a rare public appearance. The 79-year-old veteran performer, who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was spotted running errands at a CVS store and returning home, according to reports.

Turman, easily recognizable in his trademark cowboy hat, has maintained an active career spanning decades. He began his acting journey as a child performer on Broadway, notably sharing the stage with Sidney Poitier in "A Raisin in the Sun" in 1959. His extensive filmography includes roles in "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," "Burlesque," "Super 8," "The Wire," and "Rustin," among others. He also received an Emmy Award in 2008 for his work in "In Treatment" and was nominated for an Emmy in 2019 for "How To Get Away With Murder."

Beyond his acting career, Turman is also an accomplished horseman and competes in rodeos. He owns a 20-acre ranch in Lake Hughes and was inducted into the Western Heritage Multi-Cultural Museum’s Hall of Fame in 2011 for his contributions.

Turman was married to the iconic singer Aretha Franklin from 1978 to 1984. He has been married to his current wife, Jo-Ann Allen, since 1992 and has four children from previous relationships. He has spoken about his last visit with Franklin before her passing in 2018, recalling her strength and sense of humor.
